New Year. New Adventure…

New Year. New Adventure…

Happy New Year Fellow Food Biters!

At the time of this post South Africa is facing a dire 2nd wave of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic and everyone knows someone who has either faced a terrible battle for their life or someone who sadly, has lost the battle…  Our hearts go out to every single person who is currently dealing with a loss.

We couldn’t think of a better way to kick off this New Year by focussing on staying focussed!  With so much going on it’s easy to put all training on hold, but the harsh reality is that as long as you are producing food, you have an obligation to ensure that food handlers, food safety team members and team leaders as well as internal auditors are trained, aware and competent to deliver a safe product.

Over and above what’s already going on in the manufacturing environment, you must know that there have been some significant changes to a number of food safety standards.  These may require your urgent attention:

  1. A new IFS Food Standard was published in October 2020 – all assessments from 1 July 2021 MUST be performed against version 7 of the standard.
  2. In November 2020 FSSC published version 5.1 of their scheme documents. Audit against the new version will commence with effect from 01 April 2021.
  3. On the 5 February 2020, the SABS Technical Committee approved the publication of SANS 10330:2020 Edition 3. Now we know this is old news BUT did you know that there is only a 2-year transition period and current SANS 10330:2007 certificates will only be valid until 1 March 2022.

Of course, you’ve come to know by now that you can always count on us to keep you updated.  You will be happy to know that we have training and resources available to address each of the above updates and we are able to deliver on-site and virtual training as well as public workshops.

Progress Excellence is offering a ½-day IFS Food Version 7 Bridging Workshop as well as a 3-day Implementation Workshop for a more in-depth look at the requirements.  Click here to view our course dates and to register online.

We also have a handy comparison document where you will find all the latest FSSC version 5.1 changesclick here to download this resource.

Over and above this, we have many, many more food safety training courses that could be exactly what you are looking for; from Food Safety Culture Excellence to FSSC Lead Auditor training, Root Cause Analysis Masterclass, bridging workshops, implementation workshops and refresher training!  New year. New adventure.

This week we would like to end off with a famous quote:

“Promise me you’ll always remember that you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think”. – Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh.

Take care…

From the Food Bites team.
