If you can dream it, you can do it!
Hi there,
Has this been a hectic week or what? For a lot of us it meant the return to a full week of work after a much-needed end-year break… Welcome back everyone!
We know it’s difficult to stay inspired and motivated in times like these and that is why we have decided to share some of our own tips on staying positive!
- Start a gratitude journal. Sometimes we can only see what is going wrong in our lives and this negative pattern of thoughts is reinforced when we watch or listen to the news or even scroll through our social media news feeds. Take some time everyday to record at least one positive thought – you can do this in a diary or even a free digital journal application which you can download from a play store or I-store. When you are feeling down, pick up the journal and page through it – all the positive posts are sure to lighten your mood.
- Find something positive to focus on or look forward to. We all experience good days and bad days, but a really good coping mechanism is to find something to look forward to. It’s the “light at the end of the tunnel” that gives us the energy we need to get through the not-so-good days.
- Do something nice for someone else. Nothing makes you feel better than an old-fashioned dose of niceness. Maybe it’s running an errand for a sick friend or baking some cup cakes for the local old age home… Doing a good deed reminds you how fortunate you are, and the feeling is addictive – you may find yourself doing more and more just for the “good feeling fix”.
- We are all part of this insane rat race which we call life. When last have you taken time to watch the sun rise (or sun set for that matter)? Plant something and watch it grow. Try an adventurous “Master Chef” recipe. Learn a new skill – paint, dance, sing! The appreciation for the simple things in life reminds us that we are truly fortunate and brings resilience in times of hardship.
